About Genre

Genres (game types) can be argued forever. But here's a list of what I'm going to use for categories. If I change this list, I'll try to match the genre listing for all games I've reviewed.

Game Genres

Arcade - descended or similar to games that once played in arcades (asteroids, space invaders)

Casual - games that are meant to be played without a lot of thought

Match Three - get three objects to touch and they explode

Physics - things that jiggle and bounce around (not well defined)

Puzzle - problem solving but that doesn't involve speed or dexterity

RPG - role-playing game, similar to early Final Fantasy, Ultima, Dragon Quest

Space Shooter - flying around shooting at things (one of my favorites)

Tower Defense - set up your towers, defend your land
